GM sales up 22.2pc of 4,474 vehicles in April'07

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) General Motors (GM) India today registered a growth of 22.2 per cent in sales of 4,474 units in April 2007 as compared to 3,662 vehicles in the corresponding period last year.

The sales comprise of 1,670 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 1,306 units of Chevrolet Aveo, 317 units of Chevrolet Optra and 1,181 units of Chevrolet Spark which was launched few days back.

''This demonstrates the confidence of our customers in our products. Our other carlines also continue to register impressive performance,'' GM India Vice President P Balendran said in a statement.

Gearing up for a major expansion, the company's Halol facility has enhanced its capacity to 85,000 units to cater to the increased market demand for Chevrolet brand of vehicles.

Work on GM India's new manufacturing facility at Talegaon in Maharashtra is also in full swing to start commercial production at the new plant by end of next year, Mr Balendran said.
