Fire at Hindustan Times Building in CP, no one injured
New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) A 'medium' fire broke out at the multi-storeyed Hindustan Times Building in Connaught Place area of New Delhi this evening, leading to widespread chaos and panic.
However, no one was injured in the fire which began at about 1800 hrs. It was brought under control within half an hour, said the Fire Brigade.
''The fire was of 'medium' category and 20 fire tenders were pressed into service,'' it said.
Meanwhile, sources said the entire building was evacuated, hampering news operation of both the newspapers -- The Hindustan Times and Hindustan--housed in the building.
The fire, which emanated from the rubber roller, lying on the mezzanine floor, was caused by a spark from the gas-cutting machine which was used to dismantle a printing press.
The flames later swept through the air-conditioning duct, leading to spreading of smoke on the ground, first and second floors.
