New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) Lauding the Delhi metro for the speed and quality of its work, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today presented it as a role model for all other Government projects.

''Delhi Metro should be considered a role-model for all Government projects. She said others should study how DMRC completed its projects on time without encountering stumbling blocks that delayed many projects,''the Chief Minister said in her address at the 12th foundation day of the DMRC.

Mrs Dikshit said if other organisations copied even a bit of Delhi Metro's working culture, India could improve a lot in the next one year.

''The 'honesty of purpose' displayed by DMRC has inspired confidence in Government agencies because of which Delhi Metro projects have been given quick approval,''the Chief Minister said at the event where DMRC Chairman and Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development M Ramachandran and DMRC Managing Director Dr E Sreedharan were among those present.

The Chief Minister said it was a matter of great pride for Delhi that other cities wanted to emulate it because of the success of DMRC.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister awarded prizes to 25 Metro employees for outstanding performance in their respective areas of work.

Mr Hemant Kumar Bhatnagar, Group Station Manager, Central Secretariat and Patel Chowk, won the 'Metro Man of the Year (2007)' award. He was earlier in-charge of Rajiv Chowk station.

Rajiv Chowk station was declared the 'Best Metro Station'. The station is at the heart of the city and is one of the busiest as it serves as an interchange for Lines 2 and 3.
