7 ultras arrested with arms cache, gun factory busted

Kokrajhar, May 1 (UNI) Police today busted a country-gun factory and arrested seven militants of a relatively unknown outfit at Kokrajhar in lower Asom.

Acting on a tip off, the Kokrajhar police arrested seven rebels of the Asom Strong Lions Force (ASLF), including the outfit's 'c-in-c' Nanda Gowala alias Rantu, from a place near Salakati.

A country-gun manufacturing factory was also busted during the swoop.

Besides the 'c-in-c', the other rebels arrested have been identified as 'commander' Rajen Murmu, Sunil Baske, Lakhiram Baske, Paran Hemron, Luis Hasda, Raju Gowala and Ramu Gowala.

A huge cache of arms, including eight guns, one revolver, five gun pipes, SLR ammunition, gun powder and lethal weapons, was seized from the militants along with extortion notes and gun-making tools.

Police said the relatively unfamiliar outfit, comprising around 600 activists, has been operating in the districts of Kokrajhar and Chirang.
