Weather Insurance in Maharashtra, Jharkhand
Bangalore, Apr 30 (UNI) The Union Government proposes to introduce 'Weather Insurance' as a pilot project in Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Karnataka from this year.
In Karnataka it would be introduced in 10 districts covering 68 taluks coming under dry zones and practically covering all crops, Minister for Agriculture Bandeppa Kashempur said today.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that under the scheme the Centre would take the responsibility of paying compensation in case of crop loss due to both scarcity of rain or heavy rain fall.
Mr Kashampur also held a meeting with his Orissa Counterpart Surendranath Nayak and discussed about the progress made in organic farming and horticulture in the state.
