Congress concerned over recent spurt in Maoist attacks in Bihar
Patna, Apr 30(UNI) Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee(BPCC) today expressed concern over the rising incidents of Naxal attacks in various parts of the state.
The BPCC members added that the state's law and order machineries had abjectly failed in discharging their duties.
In a meeting convened here, BPCC passed a resolution denouncing the maoist attack in Sheohar district last night and described the recent spurt of attacks as an indication of intelligence failure.
The BPCC also assailed the Nitish government for its decision to give monthly pension to those who participated in the 1974-77 movement launched by veteran socialist leader Jai Prakash Narain.
Describing the move of the NDA government to provide pension as politically motivated, the BPCC advised Nitish government to desist from indulging in such 'gimmicks' and focus on checking corruption and bringing reforms in education instead, which were the basic ideologies of the JP.
In another resolution, the state Congress described the recent directive of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to ensure preparation of an error-free BPL list as the result of struggle by the party leaders on the issue.
