AP govt to review 'ISB lands' issue : Minister

Hyderabad, Apr 30 (UNI) Following the reports that the wakf lands were alloted to the Indian School of Business (ISB) for establishing its campus in city, the Andhra Pradesh Minority Welfare and Power Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today said the government would review the issue with the officials concerned at the earliest.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Shabbir said the issue of 'ISB lands' would be sorted out after reviewing the issue with Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy Collectors.

Another 1600 acre of disputed open land, possessed by the State Industrial Infrastructure Crorporation (APIIC) and other state government departments, belonging to Hajarat Hussain Shawali Darga, would also be solved during the review meeting, he added.

The State Wakf Board was procuring the records of the wakf lands occupied by the government and other private agencies in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

About 3.40 lakh acre of wakf lands was found in the surveys conducted, of which, more than 80,000 acres of land was encroached in the state.

Stating that the government had allocated Rs 127 crore for minority development in 2007-08, the minister said the government would organise 'minority welfare day' every year from 2007 after reviewing the progress of minority development at district level.

Assets would be distributed to the poor muslims on the eve of the day, he added.

The State Urdu Academy would organise 'Urdu Conference' in June in which the Union Minister for Human Resources Development (HRD) Arjun Singh will participate, he said.
