MP reels under severe heat
Bhopal, Apr 29 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh was reeling under severe heat conditions with day temperature in the state capital breaking the record of past 10 years for the month of April.
The regional meteorological department said hot winds from Rajasthan had intensified heat conditions in the state. Mercury was expected to rise further in coming days.
One person has so far died in the state because of 'loo'.
Scorching heat affected normal life and movement was less on roads with temperature in most regions touching 43-44 deg C.
The maximum temperature in the state capital rose to 43.4 deg C, which was most in April month as compared to the past 10 years.
Average temperature in Bhopal varied between 36-42 deg C.
Earlier, a maximum of 43 deg C and 43.3 deg C was recorded in 2001 and 2003.
Hoshangabad was in the grip of 'loo' winds since the past two days. Hoshangabad recorded a high of 45 deg C, followed by Gwalior (44.5), Khajuraho (44), Naugaon (44), Datia (44), Jabalpur (42) and Indore (41.8).
