Centre should adopt realistic approach to terrorism: Munde
Gorakhpur, Apr 29 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde today said the Congress-led UPA regime at the Centre should adopt a realistic approach for tackling terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
''The Kashmir issue is close to the heart of every Indian. It is painful that the Centre's strategy to tackle terrorism is not clear and straight-forward,'' Mr Munde told UNI here.
''The Centre should stop applying a balanced and humane approach to tackle the menace in the Valley. Till Pakistan does not stop its terror activities, there should not be any leniency in security at the LOC,'' the senior leader observed.
The BJP leader further castigated the anti-India acts like anti-national slogans and fluttering of flags of banner terror groups at the rally of separatist Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Srinagar recently.
Seeking to know as to why Mr Geelani was not arrested so far he called on the Centre to stop the ''minority appeasement'' policy and take serious note of the matter. ''Such anti-national acts are a slur on the prestige of our country,'' he said.
Firing a salvo at UPA at the Centre, he said Congress has become non-entity. ''After being rejected in Punjab and Uttarakhand assembly polls, besides the recently concluded MCD, New Delhi, the party will be defeated in UP too,'' he asserted.
Promising a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, Mr Munde said the BJP was always serious about having the temple at the disputed site. ''The party never makes hollow promises. It only needs power at the Centre for this'', he said.
Fulminating against the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime in Uttar Pradesh, he alleged ''instead of Uttam Pradesh, Mr Yadav has transformed UP into a land where rapes, murders, loots, and abduction have become the order of the day.'' He further claimed there is a strong BJP undercurrent in UP and it will form the next government on its own.
UNI ATI VD KN1802 'While we are dealing sternly with terrorists killing innocents, we are also ushering development for the terror torned province.
Funds amounting to Rs 26,000 crore have been pumped in the state,'' he claimed.
Mr Patil further said ''even the naxal problem in Andhra Pradesh has declined by almost 60 per cent. But the same menace has shot up by identical percentage in both Jharkhand and Chattisgarh.'' While Andhra Pradesh is ruled by a Congress government, BJP governs the tribal state of Chattisgarh and a coalition government headed by an independent Madhu Koda is in power in Jharkhand.
Urging media to abstain from spotting few incidents to suggest terrorism was on rise in the province, Mr Patil said ''even I can point incidents like terror strike on parliament and the attack on Akshardham temple in Gujarat to highlight the velocity of terrorism in the past.'' Trying hard to evade a battery of media queries related to terrorism, Mr Patil said ''the media is behaving even more proactively than the opposition. Whatever I have to answer I will do it on the floor of parliament and not before the media.''Government should also adopt a transparent strategy for SEZ for thebenefit of farmers.
