Puri, Apr 28 (UNI) Despite India's exit from ICC World Cup 2007, there is no deterrent to internationally acclaimed sand sculptor Sudarsan Pattnaik, who has created a colourful sand sculpture on the sprawling beach of Puri as a glowing tribute to the tournament.

Sudarsan, who participated in more than 31 international sand sculpture championships across the world and won many awards for the country, has created a three-foot-high solid sand World Cup trophy on a ball in between the two national flags of Sri Lanka and Australia with a cricket bat.

The sand artist used 12 tonnes of seven different coloured sand to create the sculpture in almost six hours.

Sudarsan said, ''Hundreds of cricket fans and tourists gathered at the golden beach to see the work.'' Prior to this, the artist created a mini-stadium on sand on the opening ceremony of the World Cup on the Puri beach thereby attracting a large number of people.

The sand artist had participated during many sports events which included 1999 Cricket World Cup in England, FIFA World Cup 2006 in Berlin, Doha Asian game in 2006 to showcase his talent on sand art.
