Political parties divided on Delimitation
Kohima, Apr 28 (UNI) There has been a difference in opinion between various political parties in Nagaland and the tribal Hohos regarding the implementation of the Delimitation Act, 2002, here.
The two-day long hearing held in Dimapur by a delegation of the Delimitation Commission (DC) was led by Deputy Election Commissioner M Sarangi.
While BJP, JD(U), RJD and NCP reportedly supported the total implementation of the Act, the ruling alliance partner Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) and opposition Congress did not favour it.
State Commissioner T N Mannen said the members of different parties have expressed uncompromising and diverging point of views.
''There is no unanimity of a single party, people from the same party have expressed different opinions, depending not on their parties but from the district they belonged to,'' he said.
The delegation left for New Delhi yesterday and would submit their reports to the Chairman of the DC.
However, the panel would sit only after the final hearing on May three by Gauhati High Court on a PIL filed by Chakhesang Public Organisation.
