North westerlie bring rain and relief to Kolkatans
Kolkata, Apr 28 (UNI) Kolkatans today heaved a sigh of relief as the city received rainfall from the North Westerlies which was long overdue.
North Westerlies lashed the city during the afternoon, causing the streets to be waterlogged and bringing the traffic to a standstill in many parts.
The Alipore Met office recorded about 21.6 mm rainfall which brought down the soaring temperatures.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.3 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal, while the minimum was 26.5.
The humidity was high at 92 per cent.
The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundershowers towards afternoon or evening tomorrow in some areas here.
The maximum temperature forecast was around 35 degrees Celsius.
