Bettiah, Apr 28 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today stated that the state government would not acquire lands forcibly to set up industries.

A new era of development and better employment opportunities could be ushered in through industrialisation, he stated.

After laying the foundation stone of a sugar factory at Guruwalia in West Champaran district, Mr Kumar said that the NDA government had taken several steps to accelerate the development and prosperity of the state.

He said industrialisation was one of the important prerequisites for improving the economic condition of the state and people should support the initiative taken by the government to set up industries in Bihar.

He informed that 351 farmers had donated their land for setting up the sugar factories.

'' The sugar factory at Guruwalia would also generate 16 MW of electricity and distillaries,'' Mr Kumar said, adding it would help in ameliorating the conditions of the farmers in the area.

He lambasted the Opposition for trying to create fear in the minds of the people by citing exaggerated figures of crimes. " Law and order situation in state was much better than the erstwhile Lalu-Rabri government," he claimed.

Mr Kumar refuted Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's allegation that the Bihar government was providing lands for execution of various railway projects in the state. " Lands required for some railway projects had already been acquired while acquisition of lands for other projects was going on," he said.
