Jatin Das, Ambika Pillai to be conferred with Bharat Nirman Awards
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Renowned artist Jatin Das, legal activist Pinky Anand, beautician Ambika Pillai and musician Salil Bhatt are among some of the achievers in their respective fields, selected for the 19th Bharat Nirman awards.
Prince Singhal who initiated a movement against drunk driving in India, administrator J D Sharma, jurist S C Jain, childwelfare activist Jugul Kishore Sharma, educationist Pushpa Agrawal and social activist Neera Mishra are among other recipients of the awards this year.
The awards are bestowed on those individuals who through their actions have not only contributed to their personal growth but simultaneously that of the nation by inspiring, supporting and encouraging many others to follow the suit.
The awardees are selected for their individual excellence in various fields like media, public service, law, art, music and beauty.
So, while Jatin Das has been selected in the art category, Prince Singhal has been selected in the public service category, Pinky Anand for legal services, Ambika Pillai in the beauty category and Salil Bhatt in the music field.
The winners would receive the awards at a ceremony on Monday at the Siri Fort Auditorium.
The Guest of Honour for the function will be Grammy-award winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.
The evening will also witness meditation by Maa Sidh Sidh Shakti and veena recital by Salil Bhatt.
Bharat Nirman Awards were instituted in the year 1988.
Past awardees include playback singer Shibani Kashyap, Poet Ashok Chakradhar, Music maestro Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan, Police official Kiran Bedi, singer Shubha Mudgal, actors Nandita Das, educationist S Chona, choreographer Shiamak Davar and astrologer Bejan Daruwala.
