Jammu, Apr 28 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed today said the ground situation in the state was ''not conducive'' for withdrawal of troops.

''The ground situation, as of now, is not conducive (for troops withdrawal). Killings of innocent people and cross border terrorism are still being reported,'' he told mediapersons here.

''Infiltration bids have yet not stopped... there are still 26 terrorist camps running on the other side of LoC,'' he added.

Citing the recent assassination bids on Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad at Ramban here and Bondipora in the valley, Mr Sayeed said that in such an atmosphere, security forces could not be withdrawn.

However, he said troops occupying places like educational institutions and hospitals could be withdrawn.

On reported withdrawal of security forces from some districts, Mr Sayeed said, ''on record there has been no withdrawal of forces.'' In tune with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Statement after the third round table conference at Delhi, he said security forces will consequentially be called back to the barracks after the situation Turns conducive.
