Heat wave continues, mercury rises to season's hottest of 42.4 Deg C
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) The heat wave sweeping Delhi today intensified as the mercury, continuing its upwards movement, rose to 42.4 degree Celsius, four degrees above normal, the hottest day of the season.
The maximum rose from 40.9 degree c yesterday to 42.4 degree Celsius today. It was the hottest day of this Summer season, weathermen said.
The minimum also rose to 23.4 degree Celsius, from 22.1 Degree Celsius yesterday.
For the second consecutive day, the scorching heat, specially in the afternoon hours, forced Delhiites to remain indoors in the comfort of their homes and offices.
A severe heat wave could be in offing in the coming days with the weathermen forecasting a rise in day temperatures in the next two to three days.
''Day temperatures are likely to increase further over Northwest India during the next 2-3 days,''the weather office said.
The met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of some duststorms towards evening or nights.
They have also forecast maximum temperature tomorrow to remain at around 42 Degree Celsius.
