Felicitation for woman refusing to marry groom demanding dowry

Jaipur, Apr 28 (UNI) The Rajasthan State Social Welfare Board will felicitate a woman who had recently refused to marry a man who demanded dowry here recently.

Talking to reporters here today board chairperson Saroj Kumari said the board would felicitate Ms Neeta Singh for the courage with which she fought the evil of dowry.

Neeta refused to marry the groom whose family had reportedly demanded huge dowry hours before the ceremoy, about a fortnight ago in Jaipur.

Subsequently, she married a dhaba owner's son in a simple ceremony and without giving any dowry.

She would be felicitated at a state level seminar being organised by the board for generating public awareness against the evil of female foeticide, at the Birla Auditorium here on May 2, Ms Saroj Kumari said.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Sumitra Singh, National Social Board Welfare Board Chairperson Rajni Patil, several ministers and large number of activists of non government organisations(NGOs) will participate in the seminar, she said.

Noted social activists Ms Mohini and Amar Narain Mathur would also be felicitated for their services to society.
