Eye donation awareness group to arrive in Delhi
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) A nationwide eye donation awareness campaign carried out by the Akhil Bharatiya Drishtiheen Kalyan Sangh (ABDKS) will arrive here on April 30.
The awareness group will meet Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat,former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and several other dignitaries from different walks of life during the camp here, General Secretary of ABDKS Avinash Sangwami said. The campaign, started from Kashmir on April 22, will conclude on May 13 at Kanyakumari.
Mr Sangwami said the campaign, led by Madhusudan Ghanekar, Executive President of Pune unit of the organisation will cover a distance of about 7,500 km.
The campaign will traverse through Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Public meeting, rally and street plays will be parts of the campaign, is aimed at eradicating misconceptions and false belief among people so as to promote eye donation.
A slogan competition will also be conducted during the campaign to promote eye donation, he added.
In a similar 25-day campaign carried out by the ABDKS last year, 22 eye banks had been established in Maharashtra. A total number of 97 Madhav eye banks are running in ten states across the country.
Besides, Madhav Internet Cyber Cafe and Resource Management Centre Audio Cook Library are also running.
