Patna, Apr 28: Describing the draft proposal for delimitation of Lok Sabha seats in Bihar as 'impractical' and 'full of anomalies', the ruling JD(U) today demanded its withdrawal in the interest of the state.

JD(U) state president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, who is also a member of the Delimitation Committee, objected to the draft proposal for delimitation of parliamentary seats in Bihar and told newspersons here that it was full of anomalies.

He said the new proposal prepared by the committee ignored the natural, geographical locations of the constituencies. He alleged that the administrative control of the constituencies had also been kept aside by the committee.

Dubbing the draft proposal as technically incorrect, he said that irrational and illogical separation of the districts and divisions had been made in the new proposal which were sufficient for constituting a Lok Sabha seat. In the new proposal, the Lok Sabha seats reserved for the scheduled castes had been totally changed, he said adding that the draft proposal was creating confusion among the politicians and the people.

''During the parleys, members of the committee had suggested for minor changes in the Lok Sabha seats, but contrary to their opinion, the committee prepared the new proposal which was impractical and full of errors,'' Mr Singh maintained. He said he had personally called on the Chairman of the Committee Justice Kuldeep Singh and demanded its withdrawal in view of its impracticality.

He hoped that the RJD would also support their demands for withdrawal of the draft proposal on delimitation of the Lok Sabha seats during the meeting of the members of the committee scheduled for May 7.

Referring to some of the anomalies in the draft delimitation proposal, Mr Singh said in Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat, not even a single assembly segment of the district had been included in the draft proposal and the six assembly segments of Gaya had been incorporated in this Lok Sabha seat instead.

Interestingly, Gaya town had not been included in the Gaya Lok Sabha seat while only one assembly segment of Jehanabad district had been placed in Jehanabad Lok Sabha seat in the new proposal, he said.

''Rohtas district has been segregated into several parts while Nokha and Obra assembly segments were included in Jehanabad Lok sabha seat astonishingly,'' he said.
