Srinagar, Apr 28 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organization (SVO) has registered a case against Resident Manager, State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) Delhi Branch and his brother-in-law, for fraudulent withdrawal of house rent causing wrongful loss of over Rs 2 lakh to the Corporation.

A SVO spokesman said that the organisation received an information that Mohammad Elyas Kraipak, resident of Uday Park, New Delhi, Resident Manager SIDCO Delhi Branch had misused his official position to draw rent from his own house illegally.

He said, during verification, the information was found correct that the accused had acquired a flat in New Delhi on April 11, 2001 and after only eight days, executed an agreement to sell it to his brother-in-law Mohammad Iqbal Naqash for the sole object of leasing out this property to SIDCO for use as his official accommodation at Delhi.

The verification further revealed that the Resident Manager had drawn excess rent during the year 2005-06 and also in the first six months of 2006-07 through illegal means.

It was the furtherance of a criminal conspiracy that the accused in league with his brother-in-law adopted a unique method for realising excess rent amount in respect of his self-owned accommodation, the spokesman said adding the pecuniary benefits on account of illegal with drawal of rent by the accused has been calculated to be over Rs 2 lakhs resulting in wrongful loss to the Corporation.

After prima-facie establishing the involvement of the two in defrauding the state owned Corporation, a case was registered and Vigilance started the investigation, he said.
