BJP leader ends fast as per wishes of party high command
Hyderabad, Apr 28 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary N Indirasena Reddy, who was on a 'fast-unto-death' for the sixth day today against the alleged ''illegal'' construction of the Babli project across the river Godavari, ended it following appeals of the party high command.
The State party, at an emergency meeting, decided to ask Mr Reddy to call off the stir as his condition became critical, and intensify the protest in different form against the ''indifferent Congress Government in the state and Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre,'' Party State President Bandaru Dattatreya told UNI here.
Mr Reddy, who was arrested and shifted to the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences yesterday, agreed to end his fast after a telephonic appeal from former BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu and party Spokesman Prakash Javadekar in the wake of drastic fall in his blood pressure and blood sugar level, he informed.
Accepting lemon juice from Mr Dattatreya, Mr Reddy demanded constitution of a Supreme Court-empowered committee to oversee implementation of its conditions to Maharashtra in its interim order. He also wanted the State Government to constitute an experts committee to ensure that the upper riparian state struck to the Supreme court order.
