Agitation against power highway to be intensified
Kottayam, Apr 28 (UNI) The agitation against the 400 KW Koodamkulam-Thrissur Power Highway would be intensified in the wake the Power Grid Corporation's tender for drawing the line through the thickly populated and agriculturally important Central Travancore area, Action Council leaders said.
At a news conference here today, the leaders criticised the Power Grid Corporation for inviting the tender for drawing the line at a time when the expert committee constituted by the state government was conducting a study on the issue.
Action Council General Convenor Sobichan Abraham and other leaders warned that the people would not allow drawing the power highway through the proposed thickly populated area and state electricity minister would be responsible for the consequences.
They appealed to the Chief Minister, Electricity Minister and the LDF to take immediate steps to avoid this.
