2,100 MT tonnes of garbage disposed daily under cleanliness drive
Ahmedabad, Apr 28 (UNI) As part of the cleanliness drive 'Nirmal Gujarat' launched by the Modi government, every day about 2,100 metric ton garbage gets disposed in Ahmedabad.
According to Bharatiya Janata Party city president Jagdishbhai Patel, disposal and recycling of garbage is conducted in 450 km area of the city on daily basis.
''For the first time in the history of Ahmedabad, filling site has been established in 84 hectares of land at the cost of Rs 40 crore on which 960 sanitation workers have been employed. In the coming days, 1,000 more sanitation workers will be employed,'' said Mr Patel.
Under the 'Nirmal Gujarat' drive, the city BJP is holding cleanliness drive in 43 wards of the city. City BJP office bearers, legislators, Mayor Amit Shah, Deputy Mayor Dineshbhai Makwana and Madhuben Patel will participate in the programme.
