116th IPU : Atwal leads six member delegation to Bali,Indonesia
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) A six-member parliamentary delegation headed by Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charnjit Singh Atwal has left for Nusa Dua (Bali) in Indonesia to attend the 116th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union beginning tomorrow.
The delegation includes former Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha Najma Heptulla, Mr Ram Kripal Yadav, Mr Ramchandra Paswan, Mr Jesudasu Seelam and Mr Lalit Mohan Suklabadiya.
A Lok Sabha Secretariat release said the Indian delegation would press for inclusion of a discussion on "Combating Financing of Terrorism: Need for Strengthening international cooperation", in the agenda.
Other issues which were likely to be part of the main agenda at the week-long meet are: Ensuring respect for and peaceful co-existence between all religious communities and belief in a globalised world; Job creation and employment security in the era of globalisation and promoting diversity and equal rights for all through universal democratic and electoral standards.
Besides it would hold a general debate on the political, economic and social situation in the world with the overall theme of "Global warming: ten years after Kyto" and a panel discussion on "Violence against children: Making School safe for children" and global-warming".
