Una judge remands poacher to 5 days police custody
Junagadh, Apr 27 (UNI) A local court has remanded Sarkashlal Saharelal, arrested on suspicion of killing Gir lions, to five days police custody.
Saharelal, arrested seven days back, was produced before Una judge J B Pandit.
The accused, an Adivasi, hailing from Bejanpur in Madhya Pradesh, denied any role in the lions poaching case.
He stated, during interrogation, that he was in the business of selling nails, skin and teeth of wild animals with a business collaborator Sher Singh of Ahmedabad.
However, he said that he never killed lion in the past 25 years of his career. He, however, admitted to killing only tigers.
Sarkashlal was brought straight to Una after his arrest from Bejanpur by the CID (crime) as the complaint of lions death was registered in Una police station.
So far, the police have detained nine men and 17 women in the poaching case.
