Guwahati, Apr 27 (UNI) The ULFA today alleged that the Asom government had conspired to compel the fasting wives of six 'missing' ULFA cadres to withdraw their agitation.

In a statement sent to a section of the press today, ULFA 'chairman' Arabinda Rajkhowa said by ensnaring the agitating women through 'false assurances', the government has scalped a 'democratic agitation'.

The six women, who have been on an indefinite fast since March 21, have been demanding the whereabouts of the ULFA leaders 'missing' since the 'Operation All Clear' in Bhutan in 2003. They withdrew their strike after the Chief Minister assured that the government would abide by the verdict of the Gauhati High Court, which is hearing a case related to the 'missing' ULFA cadres.

''Had the government been willing to disclose the whereabouts of the missing ULFA leaders, it would have been done by now,'' Mr Rajkhowa said.

The ULFA chairman said from the time the fasting women were ''arrested'' and shifted to the hospital, the government has been plotting to fracture the ''democratic agitation'' launched for a ''genuine cause''.
