CM holds review meeting on progress of works of NPCB

Hyderabad, Apr 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said there should be no duplicity of functioning and the society should take up activities other than that National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB).

Dr Reddy held a review meeting on progress of works of the 'NPCB' and 'Andhra Pradesh Right to Sight Society'.

The Society should take up work like paediatric eye care, eye bank, prevention and treatment of diabetic eye diseases. The Chief Minister also agreed to bring the changes of the MoUs and GOs if needed, for the effective functioning of the society.

The functioning of NPCB and the State Right to Sight Society was explained to him. He appreciated their work and suggested that the services of persons like G N Rao should be sought by the society.

The AP Right to Sight Society was formed in February 2002 to make a co-ordinated and concerted fight against avoidable blindness so that no person will be needlessly blind after 2020. The NPCB was started in 1976 and of late working for control of blindness in the country.
