After 20 years, New Commission to review Centre-state ties
New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) After a gap of two decades, the Government tonight appointed a Commission headed by former Chief Justice of India Madan Mohan Punchi to look into the vexed Centre-State relations, in the context of the sea changes that have taken place in the polity and economy of the country.
The commission will complete its work and submit its report with recommendations within two years. It will have its Headquarters at New Delhi.
The previous Commission on Centre-State relations headed by Justice R S Sarkaria submitted its report nearly two decades ago.
Former Union Home Secretary V K Duggal, who retired on March 31 this year, retired bureaucrat Dhirendra Singh and former Bangalore-based National Law School of India Director N R Madhava Menon would be the members of the commission.
