Vadodara, Apr 26 (UNI) Superintendent of Police Hasmukh Patel of DGP (Vigilance) squad, Gandhinagar, today arrived here at the Circuit House in connection with the suicide of Surat ACP B I Patel.

Mr Patel had a detailed talk with local DCB PI K B Jadeja, PSI North Squad N N Gor, 'B' division ACP K N Pandey and Dy SP N V Mirza of the CID (crime) concerning the case.

The visit of Mr Hashmukh Patel follows a petition by Nilang Patel, son of the deceased B I Patel, to the State Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding that the case be handed over the CID (Crime) as the police were not going through the inquiry in a proper manner.

ACP B I Patel, who was posted to Surat, committed suicide soon after a fax message reached the Surat control room about his imminent arrest in connection with a prostitution case. Police sources say there was no need for a fax message to be sent in such a haste and that this information should not have been leaked. It is said that local DCB PI K B Jadeja was responsible for the faux pas.

When, police commissioner P C Thakur expressed displeasure, Jadeja had gone on leave.
