Noted criminal lawyer resigns from Maharashtra Govt's post
Mumbai, Apr 26 (UNI) In a setback to Mumbai police, noted criminal lawyer Rashid Mirza resigned today from the post of Additional Public Prosecutor and Additional Government pleader in the Bombay High Court.
In a letter addressed to State Advocate General Ravi Kadam, Mr Mirza did not cite any reason, but said he was quitting the office on his personal discretion.
Mr Mirza, associated with Mumbai Police and state government from 1978, had set a record by successfully representing the government agencies in the court.
He had also represented Mumbai Police in the sensational music tycoon Gulshan Kumar murder case, diamond king and film financier Bharat Shah case and dismissed Sessions judge J W Singh's case. Both Shah and Singh were charged of having alleged links with the underworld.
