'No country can intervene in Parliament attack convict's case': BJP
New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Taking cognisance reports about some European Union countries pleading not to carry out death sentence against Mohammad Afzal, convicted for attack on Parliament, the BJP today said no country has a right to intervene in internal affairs of the country.
Answering newspersons queries seeking his reaction on the EU countries mounting pressure on President A P J Abdul Kalam, BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said he could understand the reason behind the plea as some of these countries did not have death penalty in their statute.
India has accepted death penalty for gravest of grave offences and the conviction has been upheld by the Judiciary after scrutiny at three levels.
''If Afzal cannot be hanged for organising attack against Parliament and democracy, none can be hanged in this country," he remarked.
