Shimla, Apr 26 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the Kisan Sabha today criticised the state Congress Government and the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL) for not accepting the genuine demands of the people of the Rampur project area.

In a release issued here, sabha's general secretary, Onkar Shad, demanded the implementation of agreement signed between SJVNL and the local farmers last April.

He alleged that the government has failed in getting the agreement implemented even after almost a year after it was signed.

The main demands of the kisan sabha included alternate supply of water to the villages, employment opportunities for local, adequate compensation to the affected families and Rs nine crore drinking water supply scheme for the area, he said.

Mr Shad threatened that if the genuine demands of the locals were not addressed then the sabha would launch a mass agitation.
