Govt to spend Rs 184.15 cr on renovation of ITDC hotels

New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) The Government will spent Rs 184.15 crore on the renovation of ITDC hotels across the country during 2007-08 and 2008-09, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

During 2006-07, the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) hotels made a profit of Rs 53.16 crore (provisional) against Rs 34.05 crore in 2005-06 and Rs 15.99 crore in 2004-05, Tourism Minister Ambika Soni said in a written reply.

Ashok Hotel, Janpath Hotel and Samrat Hotel, all located in the capital, registered higher profits compared to the previous years, she added.

Ashok Hotel earned profits worth Rs 45.50 crore in 2006-07 as against Rs 30.45 crore in 2005-06 and Rs 14.92 in 2004-05.

For Janpath Hotel, the provisional figure is Rs 4.41 crore against Rs 3.08 crore and 2.46 crore, respectively.

For Samrat Hotel, the provisional figure is Rs 3.73 crore compared to Rs 2.21 crore and Rs 1.02 crore in the previous fiscals.

Latitha Mahal Palace Hotel, Mysore is also making a profit (Rs 2.11 crore).

Hotel Jaipur Ashok, Hotel Jammu Ashok and Hotel Kalinga Ashok, Bhubaneshwar will, however, continue to suffer losses.
