Rajasthan says 'no' to sex education in schools
Jaipur, Apr 25 (UNI) Rajasthan government has refused to impart sex education in its schools, saying the present form of the course was averse to Indian culture and values.
In a letter to Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has said it was not advisable to conduct sex education for students and that class IX and X students did not need such education.
Mrs Raje further said in her letter that state government was already running the course for class XI where the focus was on healthy lifestyle, keeping in mind the hectic everyday life.
The course has been prepared by National AIDS Control Organisation and UNICEF for school students to enable them to understand human anatomy and the ill-effects of premature sex in order to prevent the possibility of AIDS.
