Pepsi fined Rs one lakh after worms found in bottle

Shimla, Apr 25 (UNI) A consumer court in Himachal Pradesh has imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on Pepsi after insects were found in one of its bottles purchased by a consumer five years ago.

The Himachal Pradesh Consumer Redressal Commission here directed the soft drink major to pay the amount to the consumer after a state government laboratory in Kandaghat, about 35 km from here, termed the drink contaminated.

The consumer had purchased the soft drink from a store in Dharamsala town of Kangra district in 2002 and found worms and insects in it.
