Minister instructs Administration to tackle drinking water problem

Mysore, Apr 25 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Cooperation G T Deve Gowda today instructed the district administration to take up steps on warfooting to tackle drinking water problem.

Mr Deve Gowda, who is also Mysore district incharge minister, told newsmen after a review meeting that the Government has sanctioned Rs 17 Crore for drinking water and drought relief work in the District where in severe drought situation was faced due to failure of pre-monsoon.

Taluk level Task Forces have been formed to take up the works and supply of drinking water. Due to failure of rain the water table has gone down and most borewells have gone dry.

Stating that Task Force would also formed at the city level to supply drinking water, he said that the second phase of the Melapura drinking water supply project would be inaugurated Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on May Six and the city would get additional water supply of 12 MG per day.

He said that the Village Stay concept by the officials in the Mysore district were continued and all the taluk officials begin their 100 days of such programs from May Two. The officials, during their stay would looking into the problems of Widow and old age pensions, housing facilities, BPL cards and others on the spot.
