Jaipur, Apr 25 (UNI) National president of Peoples For Animals (PFA) Maneka Gandhi has criticised the Rajasthan government's move to use falcons to scare away pigeons from the under-renovation Albert Hall Museum here.

The pigeons are said to be defacing its wall paintings.

On the instructions of Ms Gandhi, PFA's Jaipur chapter president Dr B L Bajaj today handed over a memorandum in this regard to state Archaeological and Museum director B L Gupta and also deputy chief Wildlife warden Shivcharan, Jaipur Zoo.

PFA spokesman said people in Rajasthan feed pigeons religiously and to use falcons to frighten them away must be condemed. PFA demanded that an alternative site be provided where public can feed pigeons.

Albert Hall is a popular tourist site situated amidst picturesque Ram Niwas Bagh in the heart of the state capital, where people feed the scores of pigeons.

These pigeons take shelter in the nooks and corners of Albert Hall Museum in the night and their excreta is reportedly ruining the age-old and priced wall paintings kept of musuem.

PFA is mulling over adapting legal route if the government insists on using falcons.
