HC imposes cost of Rs 10,000 on Joint Secretary, sports

Allahabad, Apr 25 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Uttar Pradesh Joint-Secretary of sports, Lucknow, for obstructing the admission of one Amit Kumar Pandey in sports hostel Mayo Hall here.

The order was passed by Justice Arun Tandon, allowing the writ petition of the petitioner Amit Kumar challenging the order of Joint-Secretary of February 23, 2007, whereby, he was denied admission.

The HC said the petitioner was selected fairly. The selection list was signed by two members out of three and there was no complaint regarding selection.

The court said the Joint-Secretary for ulterior considerations is obstructing the admission of candidates like Mr Pandey, who have been selected in fair trial and quashed his order.
