Guj govt likely to file ATR in Sohrabuddin case in SC tomorrow

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) Gujarat government is likely to file its Action Taken Report (ATR) in the Supreme Court tomorrow in relation to the killing of alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Sohrabuddin, in a fake encounter in Gujarat in 2005.

Yesterday, the Gujarat government had admitted the involvement of its senior police officials in the fake encounter for the first time in the apex court during the hearing of a petition filed by the victim's brother Rubabuddin Sheikh.

The state government was given a week's time to file its ATR by the Supreme Court last week.

The petition was filed by Rubabuddin seeking action against the guilty police officials who had gunned down Sohrabuddin following a report that he had links with the Lashkar-e-Toiba and had come to Gujarat with the mission of killing Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

The family has also alleged that Kousar Bi, Sohrabuddin's wife, who went missing one-and-a-half years ago, was also killed by police.

Gujarat police had yesterday arrested three IPS officers, including DIG, Anti Terrorist Squad, G D Banjara. One of the police officers belongs to Rajasthan.

The apex court is due to hear the matter on friday.
