CPI(ML) questions Trinamool's role

Kolkata, Apr 25 (UNI) The CPI(ML) today questioned the Trinamool Congress's association with the Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) at Nandigram, alleging it was aimed at extracting political mileage in view of the upcoming Panchayat election.

''The ruling Left Front is indulging in criminals activities from outside to recapture the affected areas, while the Trinamool Congress is sparing no pains to establish its rein, thereby bypassing the BUPC in all respects '' CPI(ML) General-Secretary Kanu Sanyal averred.

He accused the Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee of abandoning the Singur movement by hijacking it from Singur to Kolkata and opined that Ms Banerjee did not vouch for the peasants but was actually leaving no stone unturned to be in the Bengal saddle.

He said the opposition to SEZ was spontaneous and overwhelming.

The CPI(M)-led Left Front government was determined to impose the imperialist globalisation and did not budge an inch even after March 14 Nandigram incident, Mr Sanyal alleged.

The CPI(M) leadership was still indulging in criminal activities to recapture the affected areas at Nandigram and the acts of the CPI(M) had created a civil war-like situation in the state, he further alleged.

''We have submitted a memorandum to Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi on April 23 and urged him for his intervention,'' he stated.

''We met Human Rights Commission Chairman Shyamal Kumar Sen on April 24 and apprised him of the situation at Nandigram and the tea gardens in North Bengal. Mr Sen has advised us to file an application on the tea workers' crisis and violation of fundamental rights in tea gardens,'' he said.
