Admn to consider inclusion of left-out communities in MBC: CM

Puducherry, Apr 25 (UNI) The Puducherry administration would consider the inclusion of the left-out communities in the Most Backward Class (MBC) list after a fresh survey here, Chief Minister N Rangasamy informed the Assemby today.

To a question, Mr Rangasamy said a fresh survey was necessary as the data available with the Backward Class Commission was based on a 1994 survey. The Commission had received applications from 30 communities to enroll them in the MBC list on the basis of their social, economic and educational status, he added.

Mr Rangasamy said 104 individuals and five community associations had objected to the inclusion of any more castes into the MBC list.

The DMK and PMK members locked horns during the question hour.

As S P Sivakumar, DMK, who posed the question was waiting for a concrete reply from the Chief Minister, PMK member Anantharaman intervened and asked whether the member was not respecting the report of the justice Thangamani Commission which was constituted by the DMK government.

This provoked the DMK members, who had heated exchanges with the PMK members, plunging the house into noisy scenes. Speaker R Radhakrishnan restored order in the House.

Later, leader of the Opposition A M H Nazeem said this is an important issue and if a fresh survey was inevitable, it should be a time-bound one, to which Mr Rangasamy agreed.
