Thane, Apr 22 (UNI) The owner of a mobile store in Mumbra, in the adjoining district here, was seriously injured when a gang of dacoits fired at him.

The incident occurred last night when the four-member gang of robbers stormed into Mohamad Zuber Batliwala's shop while he was winding up for the day. They threatened him at gun-point to give cash and when he refused, one of the gang members fired at him, injuring him seriously, police sources said today.

Hearing the gun shots, neighbouring shopkeepers rushed to Batliwala's aid and managed to nab one of the robbers, identified as Aqsar Ali, and handed him over to the police, while the rest escaped.

Batliwala has been admitted to JJ hospital in South Mumbai and his condition is said to be critical, sources added.
