Shekhawat takes part in Mahamastakabhishek of 60-ft monolith
Hubli, Apr 22 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today participated in the 'Visarjana Mahamastakabhishek' of the 60-ft monolith of Bhagawan Parshwanath at Varuru village on the outskirts of the city.
Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the efforts of seer Gunanandi Maharaj in erecting the monolith along with eight other Jain Teerthankaras and hoped that the area would draw pilgrims on the lines of Shravanabelagola.
Navagraha Teerth chief Gunadharnandi Maharaj, who spoke on the occasion, expressed unhappiness over former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy not visiting the Teertha, despite being in Hubli. Both might have feared losing power if they visited a place depicting sacrifice and peace, he opined.
