PDP condemns killing of woman by troops in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 22 (UNI) The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a key ruling coalition partner in Jammu and Kashmir, today condemned the killing of an innocent woman allegedly by the security forces in a jungle near Tirch village in Kupwara district recently.

A PDP spokesman said such killings could be a big blow to the ongoing peace process initiated by India and Pakistan to resolve the ''very sensitive issue'' of Jammu and Kashmir.

These incidents not only blur the name of a disciplined force, but also vitiate the present hard gained atmosphere of peace and reconciliation in the state particularly in the Kashmir valley, he added.

The spokesman demanded a probe into the incident and stern punitive action against the errant soldiers in order to stop the recurrence of such incidents.
