Parents' committee wants schools to reopen from July 1

Akola, Apr 22 (UNI) An action committee of teachers, parents and students here has urged the State Government to consider reopening of schools in the State, after the summer vacations, from July 1 instead of the earlier declared date of June 11.

The action committee, headed by Legislative Council member Vasantrao Khotre, proposes to organise a ''morcha'' on April 30 here to press for this demand. A decision to this efect was taken at a meeting of the committee held here yesterday.

The committee has put forth this demand as it feels that the summer is rather harsh in the month of June, and reopening schools on June 11 could be detrimental to the health of the children.
