Nayonika bashes govt for banning FTV
Kolkata, Apr 22 (UNI) Censuring the Centre for banning Fashion TV, ace model Nayonika Chatterjee said FTV should not have been treated as 'sinful' in the land Khajuraho.
Holding up the values of this profession, Ms Nayonika took a shot at the Centre for imposing a ban on FTV.
"Civilisation lies in the mind of the beholder. In the land of Khajuraho, FTV should not be seen as sinful," she added.
Blaming lack of education and exposure for the growing frustation among the masses, she said that FTV alone cannot spread evil in the society where there is already internet and magazines doing their rounds.
Then reacting to the Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty kiss controversy, she said media was creating an unnecessary hullabaloo over a simple dance posture which was not meant to offend the Indian sentiments.
"Instead of sensationalising such a trivial incident, the media should have focussed on other important issues," the dusky supermodel from India said during her sojourn to the city to judge the Sananda Tillotama beauty peagent contestants.
Known to revolutionise the Indian modelling scene with her lanky looks and snaky locks, Nayonika said, "Sex education should be imparted in schools so that children can be safeguarded against improper information to help them differentiate between nudity and creativity." Beauty with brains can generate a 'wholesome personality' which can usher in an individuality to the quintessential lass, she said.
"Confidence is the basic prerequisite for any profession and modelling is the art of carrying one-self well," the super model, who brought about a new dimension to the ethnic wares in India with her Indo-African looks, said.
Thrashing the rumours that modelling is a profession when there is no other alternative in career planning, she said, "grooming can only enhance your persona. Modelling is the art which you either have or you don't." UNI XC BA AKP0939
