K'taka Govt to start cow bank to preserve Indian breed cattle
Shimoga, Karnataka, Apr 22 (UNI) The JD(S)-BJP coalition Government in Karnataka is planning to start a cow bank to preserve Indian breed cattle, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy announced today.
''The responsibility of preserving the indigenous breed cattle rests on all of us. Human beings have to face great problem if cattle breeds perish. We failed to create awareness about the importance of indigenous cattle breed among the common man,'' he said, inaugurating the world conference on 'Indian breed cattle' as part of the nine-day World Cow Conference at Hosanagar here.
The Chief Minister stressed that those involved in cow slaughtering should be punished.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Raghaveshwar Bharathi Swamiji of the Ramachandrapur mutt, organisers of the event, said people could get economical stability by rearing cattle. The need of the hour was to have a mega initiative to protect cattle breed.
Foreign delegates from Kenya, Uganda, Brazil, Hungary and the United States were taking part in the conference in large numbers.
UNI
