Indo-Sino diplomats cancel trip to Tiger Hill
Coonoor (Tamil Nadu), Apr 22: Top Indian and Chinese diplomats, here for the tenth round of talks on the contentious border issue, cancelled a trip to the picturesque Tiger Hill due to misty climate this morning.
The administration had advised the diplomats to cancel their visit to the spot in view of the climate, police sources told UNI.
Not much of what transpired between the two sides is known as the Taj Garden hotel where talks continued today, is out of bounds for mediapersons.
Infact no media briefing was done yesterday after the first day of talks ended last night.
The Indian delegation is led by National Security Advisor M K Narayanan and Indian Ambassador to Beijing Nirupama Rao while the Chinese side is led by Vice-Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo and Chinese envoy to India Sun Yuxi.
Later, the delegations would proceed to the famous Botanical Garden in Ooty for sight seeing. They would sit for one more round of talks in the evening, the sources added.
The diplomats had also visited Sim's Park here yesterday.
In the meantime, about 74 Tibetan shops in Ooty had downed their shutters to register their protest against the visit by Chinese diplomats.
They have also sought permission to show black-flags to the Chinese delegates, which was refused by the police.
However, security and patrolling has been stepped up in the area.
