Indian LeT associate admits to planting explosives in July 11 blasts
Bangaon, Apr 22 (UNI) Arrested Lashkar-e-Toiba associate from Aurangabad today admitted that he had planted explosives in at least five places in different railway stations in Mumbai and adjoining areas for the July 11 blasts last year.
This was revealed from the narco-analysis of the test conducted on the accused in Bangalore on April 15, CID, West Bengal sources said.
The narco-analysis report of the two Indian associates of Laskar-e-Toiba will be reaching here by next week, sources added.
Both Sk Shamir and his Kashmiri associate Mujaffar Ahmed Khan, who were were today sentenced to judicial remand, were sent to Bangalore last week for the test.
The latter is likely to give a confession statement before a Magistrate under 164 CrPC, the source indicated.
The test revealed that Sk Shamir is a BSc graduate, having good knowledge in chemistry and of chemical explosives, the CID source said.
The narcotic tests and the admission of Sk Shamir about his active involvement in the Mumbai blasts that left not less than 150 people dead and about 300 others injured, Mumbai experienced explosions at seven railway stations and a running passenger train within a few minutes of July 11 last year.
The reported admission of Sk Shamir prompted the Maharashtra police to interrogate him and prayed for transit remand before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate here today and obtained permission to take him to their custody.
Sk Shamir would be taken to Mumbai. The ACJM D N Mitra has granted transit remand for seven days directing Mumbai police to produce before him on April 29.
At the same time Mujaffar Ahmed Khan was remanded to Judicial custody till May 2, when he would be produced before the court along with Sk Shamir police here said.
The extremist quartet, including the Pakistani Sk Abdullah and Md Yunus were earlier produced before the same court on April 18 and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
