Haryana govt has extended number of schemes to handicapped
Rohtak, Apr 22 (UNI) Haryana Health and Social Welfare Minister Kartar Devi today said the government had implemented a number of new schemes and programmes for the welfare of physically handicapped and blind people.
Speaking in a state level prize distribution function organised by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department here, she said the construction work of a home for the mentally retarded and disabled persons here had been completed at a cost of Rs 2.18 crore.
She said the government had also constructed residential quarters for the blind people at Blind School, Panipat. A computer room had also been constructed in this school at a cost of Rs 2. 30 lakh to provide facilities of computer education to the blind. The salary of the staff working in the school had also been increased from Rs 5000 per month to Rs 5500 per month.
